UTAH RV PARKS AND CAMPGROUNDS – ACCESSIBLE

SOUTHERN UTAH

HURRICANE

  • COTTAM’S WILLOWIND RV PARK  – This park is an accessible park with paved roads and concrete rv pads, good for guests with limited mobility.  Good spacing to allow ease of access around site in a wheelchair. Park is well manicured with good shade, allowing guests to set on the patio in the shade without having to move about.  Bathrooms are centrally located and good access for all guests.  Recommendation:  Designate what sites are “accessible” only sites, and make sure these sites are best located near most amenities.

MOAB

  • ARCH VIEW RV PARK – Worker’s were pleasant to work with and very open to suggestions.  Good accessible sites.  Recommendation:  Install more assist handles for shower and toilet areas, and install a ramp for wheelchair access to the office, laundry, and showers.

VIRGIN (ZION NATIONAL PARK AREA)

  • ZION RIVER RESORT – This is an exceptional facility for the RVer with limited mobility.  Interior roads are asphalt paved, while RV sites are all concrete with grass yards. Nice home base for visiting Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks as well as Cedar Breaks National Monument.  Recommendation:  Because this is a nice family resort, guests that require an “accessible” site should be in an area where there are less bicycles and skateboarders.  Perhaps provide both a 1) family area and 2) adult area.  Cabins do not have any plumbing, but close to comfort station and laundry.  Designate “accessible” specific sites and cabins.  Cabins can be ramped for ease of access to/from cabin to restrooms and shower areas.  Restrooms and showers are accessible, with exception of the need for a dedicated “accessible” shower with a bench for disabled guest who is unable to stand for a shower, and an adjustable shower head.
