VIRGINIA RV PARKS AND CAMPGROUNDS – ACCESSIBLE
- HOLIDAY TRAV-L-LAND – This is a very nicely appointed accessible park close to the beach. This park is a very large park with hundreds of RV sites, cabins and tent sites. A portion of the RV sites are paved and considered “super sites” with nearly 15′ width and plenty of length for any size rig. This park has numerous amenities most of which are accessible by paved interior roads. The owner has the attitude that if he can make his park accessible and compliant, it will be universally usable by ALL persons, disabled or not. The park has 8 bath houses, 4 pools, mini golf, entertainment stage, pavilions, dog run, among other nice amenities. If you use a wheelchair or scooter, we would highly recommend staying in the super site section for better accessibility. The owners and staff are friendly and very accommodating. We were commissioned by the owner to help develop a transition plan on updating the entire facility to work toward ADA compliance. While much of the park is accessible, the owner’s ongoing efforts will only make this a more appealing park for the disabled community of RVers and campers.
- SMALL COUNTRY CAMPGROUND – This is a wonderful campground in a quiet setting. If you run out of things to do, then you just have way too much time on your hands as this park offers every amenity a camper would want. The word Small is a misnomer as this is not a “small” campground. With over 200 spaces, plus cabins, park models, and tent camping, there is a lake with a beach, water trampolines, fishing pier, boat launch, swimming platform, game room, mini golf, accessible bath houses, laundry, a pool with a pool lift, camp store, among other enjoyable amenities. The owners commissioned RVAG to do an accessibility assessment in order to identify barriers that would require attention in order to become a fully accessible RV park/campground. Mr. Small is already working on the barrier removal process and has a transition plan to guide him through this process. The RV Sites are not firm and stable, yet Mr. Small is working to achieve that standard as part of his transition plan. Bill and Ruth Small, owners, are very accommodating and pleasant
